 How did Rosalind win Orlando's heart? (কেমন করে রােজালিন্ড অরল্যান্ডাের হৃদয় জয় করেছিল?) 

Ans. In 'As You Like It' Rosalind  met Orlando just before the wrestling match, in which Orlando fought with an experienced wrestler named Charles.  Rosalind was feeling pity for this young man who had none to look after  in this world.  Although she tried to dissuade Orlando from this unequal fight, Orlando fought bravely and won the match. After the match when it was discovered that Orlando was the youngest son of her father's friend, Rosalind was very pleased. Then she took out her chain  and gave it to Orlanda in recognition of his strength and success.  With this gesture, along with her sweet words and behavior, Rosalind won the heart of the lonely and neglected young Orlando.

Ans.  Shakespeare is unique as a comedian.  His ‘As you like it’ is an extraordinary creation.  It has a beautiful beginning and the whole drama has a smooth pace.  Finally it has a happy ending.  The play has a warm expression of human qualities.  Rosalind loves Orlando.  The relationship between Rosalind and Celia is the main point of the play.  The Duke Frederick and Oliver repent for their misdeeds. The Duke Frederick  returns his dukedom to his elder brother.  In this way he  finally does a nafrat task.  So 'As you like it' gives us a romantic sense of life.  Hence, it is a romantic comedy.

কৌতুক নাট্যকার হিসেবে শেকসপিয়র অনবদ্য। তার ‘As you like it' একটা অসাধারণ সৃষ্টি। এর শুরুটা বেশ সুন্দর পুরাে নাটকটাতেই একটা মসৃণ গতি আছে। অবশেষে এর একটা আনন্দদায়ক সমাপ্তি রয়েছে। নাটকটাতে মানবিক গুণের একটা উষ্ণ প্রকাশ রয়েছে। রােজালিন্ড ভালােবাসে অরল্যান্ডােকে। রােজালিন্ড ও সিলিয়ার সম্পর্কটা নাটকের একটা মূল কেন্দ্রবিন্দু। ডিউক ফ্রেডরিক আর অলিভার তাদের অপকর্মের জন্য অনুতাপ প্রকাশ করে। ডিউক ফ্রেডরিক তার বড়াে দাদাকে তার রাজত্ব ফেরত দেয়। এভাবেই শেষমেষ তিনি একটা মহৎ কাজ করছেন। তাই 'As you like it ' আমাদের একটা রােমান্টিক বােধ দিচ্ছে। অর্থাৎ এটা একটা রােমান্টিক কমেডি।

 Q. Give  the substance of the poem 'Brotherhood'.

Ans. In this poem the poet asks a question about the meaning of human life.  The poet wants to know how important human life is compared to the universe that surrounds us.  The poet is very humble — he admits that he is a very small, an insignificant part of this universe.  He also feels that man is not only physically possessing a small space, he is also living for a very short span of time - the universe, whatever it may be, is millions of years old.  However, in the last part of the poem, the poet says that in this general plan of life, there is a very good reason for his existence - he has an existence because he has a role.  He may live a short time, but he has a purpose in life - he is an important part in the schemes of the universe.

এই কবিতায় কবি মানবজীবনের অর্থ সম্বন্ধে একটি প্রশ্ন করেছেন। কবি জানতে চান আমাদের বেষ্টন করে থাকা মহাবিশ্বের তুলনায় মানবজীবন কতটা তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ। কবি খুব বিনয়ী — তিনি স্বীকার করেন যে তিনি এই ব্রম্মান্ডের অতি ক্ষুদ্র, অতি তাৎপর্যহীন একটি অংশ। তিনি আরও অনুভব করেন যে মানুষ শারীরিকভাবে শুধু সামান্য স্থান অধিকার করেই নেই, সে জীবিতও থাকে অতি সামান্য সময়—ব্ৰত্মাণ্ড, যাই হােক, লক্ষ লক্ষ বছরের প্রাচীন। যাই হােক, কবিতার শেষ অংশে কবি বলছেন জীবনের এই সাধারণ পরিকল্পনায়, তাঁর অস্তিত্বের একটি খুব উপযুক্ত কারণ রয়েছে — তাঁর অস্তিত্ব রয়েছে কারণ তাঁর একটি ভূমিকা আছে। হয়তাে তিনি স্বল্পসময় বেঁচে থাকেন কিন্তু তাঁর জীবনের একটা উদ্দেশ্য আছে — এই মহাজাগতিক সৃষ্টির তিনি এক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ।

ANS. The poet of the poem ‘Brotherhood’ is referred to here as ‘I’.

 As a human being, the poet finds himself small, insignificant in comparison with  other elements of the universe.  Then he looks up into the sky and finds that the stars are sending him a message about his position in this universe.

 The poet's life is written in the sense that he is related to other elements and lives in this universe.  His vocation as a poet has a purpose that his poems or ideas will be  understood and explained by his readers.

Ans.  'Brotherhood' is a short but a very meaningful poem.  In this poem the poet speaks of man's relationship with the universe and the meaning of life from this universal perspective. Seemingly, with his  little knowledge and short lifespan, man seems to be an insignificant part of this eternal and timeless universe.  But after being inspired by Ptolemy's endeavour to unravel the mystery of this universe, the poet realizes that the project of this universe has a special purpose in human life and that everything is tied into a unique relationship.

The poem 'Brotherhood' begins with the poet’s realization that he is an insignificant man   in this eternal universe and that he lives in this timeless universe for a short time.  Then he looks up at the starry sky above his head.  He found the stars, who were sending messages to him in their distant twinkle. The poet faills to logically understand the meaning of that message.  But at that moment his instincts showed him the way and he realized that he is an integral part of this universe. The manner in which realization comes to him is epigrammatically expressed as ‘unknowing I understand'.

'ব্রাদারহুড’ কবিতাটি শুরু হচ্ছে কবির এই উপলব্ধি দিয়ে যে এই অনন্ত মহাবিশ্বে তিনি তুচ্ছ এক মানব এবং এই কালহীন মহাজগতে সামান্য সময়ের জন্যই তিনি থাকেন। তারপর তিনি মাথার উপর  তারকাখচিত আকাশের দিকে তাকালেন। তিনি তারাদের দেখতে পেলেন, যারা তাদের দূরাগত ঝিকমিকিতে তার কাছে বার্তা পাঠাচ্ছিল। যুক্তির দ্বারা কবি সেই বার্তার অর্থ অনুধাবন করতে পারলেন না। কিন্তু সেই মুহূর্তে তার সহজাত প্রবৃত্তি তাকে পথ দেখাল এবং তিনি বুঝতে পারলেন তিনি এই মহাবিশ্বের অবিচ্ছেদ্য অংশ। যে পদ্ধতিতে এই বােধ তার কাছে ধরা দিয়েছিল তাকেই কবি 'অজান্তে বুঝে গেলাম’ বলে প্রকাশ করেছেন।

Ans . The word 'brotherhood' means brotherly relationship or in a broader sense it refers to the relationship between the people of a group whose lineage, opinion or purpose is the same. In the poem 'Brotherhood' the poet is trying to explain the relationship between man and the universe and the position of human beings in this project. He realizes, much in the line of thought propagated by the ancient astronomer Ptolemy that everything like stars, planets, humans is tied in a relationship with one another. From this thematic point of view the title appears to be  appropriate and me
