THE TELEVISION
The television is one of the greatest inventions of modern science. It is electrically-operated equipment. It was invented by the British scientist J. N. Baird in 1923. On television we can not only hear the sound but can also see the pictures. We learn many things from the different programmes on the television.
The television is a sourcce of great enjoyment and entertainment. Both our ears and eyes are satisfied by TV. When we hear songs, music, plays and talks we can also see the participants on the screen. We can enjoy a cinema-show or a live telecast of an exciting cricket, football or tennis match on TV. Thus, it has brought the whole world to our drawing rooms. The television is also an effective medium of education. The illiterate and ignorant Indian people can be taught through the television. Children and farmers can learn many things by watching the programmes of their interest on it.
But the television is not all good. It makes us enjoyment-minded and for it we sometimes neglect our studies. TV also shows films not fit for students. It also affects our eyesight.
