Ans. Robert Browning's poem 'Meeting at Night' is a romantic love-poem.  The lover  is eager to meet his beloved on a moonlit night.  Before him lies long stretches of sleepy sea.  He crosses the sea.  The boat reaches the bay.  The lover walks along the sea-scented beach.  He crosses three fields.  Now he stands before the door of his beloved's cottage.  To announce his arrival, he taps on the window pane. The light of a match comes out from inside.  Then a whispering voice is heard.  Two hearts meet each other.  The meeting is complete.  It all happens in secrecy.  The night gives a good opportunity for their union. So, the title of the poem is quite appropriate.

(Robert Browning এর Meeting at Night কবিতাটি একটি রোমান্টিক প্রেমের কবিতা। চন্দ্রালোকিত রাতে প্রেমিক তার প্রেমিকার সঙ্গে দেখা করতে উদগ্রীব। তার সামনে বিরাজ করছে সুদূর বিস্তৃত ঘুমন্ত সাগর। সে সাগর অতিক্রম করে। নৌকো উপসাগরে পৌঁছোয়। প্রেমিক সুগন্ধিবালুতটের ওপর দিয়ে হেঁটে যায়। সে তিনটি প্রান্তর অতিক্রম করে। এখন সে তার প্রিয়তমার কুটিরের দরজার সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে। তার আগমন জানানোর জন্য সে শার্সিতে দেয় টোকা। ভেতর থেকে দেশলাইয়ের আলো আসে। তারপর  ফিসফিস কণ্ঠস্বর শোনা যায়। দুটি অন্তর মিলে যায়। অভিসার সম্পূর্ণ। এটি হল সম্পূর্ণ গোপনে। রাত্রি অবশ্যই তাদের অভিসারের সেরা সুযোগ দিয়েছে। তাই কবিতার শিরোনামটি সম্পূর্ণভাবেই যথাযথ। )

Ans. On a cold moonlit night, the lover went out with the boat. He has to meet his beloved.  The gray sleepy sea is disturbed.  The lover reaches the bay and comes down from the boat.  He takes a long walk along the sea-scented beach. He had to cross three fields to reach his beloved's cottage.  He tapped on the window pane to announce his presence.  A match is lit inside with a sudden sharp scratch.  The beloved jumps in joy and fear.  Then a voice is heard.  It is softer than the beating of two hearts in the passionate rapture of union.  Thus comes the climax of the poem.

(এক শীতল চাঁদনী রাতে প্রেমিক নৌকা নিয়ে বেরিয়ে পড়ল। সে তার প্রেয়সীর সাথে দেখা করবে।  ধূসর ঘুমন্ত সমুদ্র বিরক্ত হয়।  প্রেমিক উপসাগরে পৌঁছল এবং নৌকা থেকে নামল।  তিনি সমুদ্র-সুগন্ধি সৈকত বরাবর দীর্ঘপথ  হাঁটল.  প্রেয়সীর কুটিরে পৌঁছতে তাকে তিনটি প্রান্তর অতিক্রম করতে হল।   সে তার উপস্থিতি ঘোষণা করার জন্য জানালার শার্সিতে টোকা দিল।  আর তখনই তীক্ষ্ণ ঘর্ষণে আলোর চকিত স্ফুলিঙ্গ দেখা গেল ঘরের ভেতরে।  প্রেয়সী আনন্দে ও ভয়ে দোদুল্যমান। তারপর একটা মৃদু স্বর শোনা যায়।  সে স্বর দুই হৃদয়ের সম্পৃক্ত উল্লাসের মিলিত হৃদস্পন্দনের থেকেও মৃদু।  এভাবেই আসে কবিতার চরম পরিণতিমূলক সমাপ্তি।)

    Computer is one of the greatest inventions of modern technology.  The great British scientist Charles Buffage invented it.  Various tasks can be done very easily and accurately within a very short time with the help of computer.  Computers are used in almost every office today.  One can enjoy music and movies through it.  E-mail has brought about revolutionary changes in the field of communication.  Any information under the sky can be found through internet.  Computers are also working wonders in medical science.  But it is not without its drawbacks.  Computers have given birth to many crimes in society.  Many criminals use computers to organize crimes.  However, computer has taken such a place that we cannot live without it today.

কম্পিউটার - এর ব্যবহার এবং অপব্যবহার

     কম্পিউটার আধুনিক প্রযুক্তির অন্যতম সেরা আবিষ্কার।  মহান ব্রিটিশ বিজ্ঞানী চার্লস বাফেজ এটি আবিষ্কার করেন।  কম্পিউটারের সাহায্যে খুব অল্প সময়ের মধ্যেই বিভিন্ন কাজ খুব সহজে এবং নির্ভুলভাবে করা যায়।  কম্পিউটার আজ প্রায় প্রতিটি অফিসে ব্যবহৃত হয়।  কেউ এর মাধ্যমে সঙ্গীত এবং চলচ্চিত্র উপভোগ করতে পারে।  ই-মেইল যোগাযোগের ক্ষেত্রে বৈপ্লবিক পরিবর্তন এনেছে।  আকাশের নিচের যেকোনো তথ্য ইন্টারনেটের মাধ্যমে পাওয়া যাবে।  চিকিৎসা বিজ্ঞানেও কম্পিউটার বিস্ময়কর কাজ করছে।  কিন্তু এটা তার অপূর্ণতা ছাড়া হয় না।  কম্পিউটার সমাজে অনেক অপরাধের জন্ম দিয়েছে।  অনেক অপরাধী অপরাধ সংগঠিত করতে কম্পিউটার ব্যবহার করে।  যাইহোক, কম্পিউটার এমন একটি জায়গা নিয়েছে যে আজ আমরা এটি ছাড়া বাঁচতে পারি না

We are living in an age of science and technology. Many wonderful inventions of science have made our life comfortable. Science has now brought the whole world into our drawing room. Medical science has overcome many complicated and fatal diseases. Computer and mobile phones have made communication very easy. We enjoy the gifts of science at every step of our life. The alarm clock wakes us up at any hour we like. The morning newspaper, the cooking oven, electricity are all gifts of science. The radio, the television, the video recorder, tape-recorder etc. are means of entertainment and getting acquainted with the outside world. Electric fans, air-coolers, air-conditioners keep us cool on hot days. But we should not use science for evil purposes or destructive purposes.

 আমরা বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তির যুগে বাস করছি।  বিজ্ঞানের অনেক  আবিষ্কার আমাদের জীবনকে  আরামদায়ক করেছে। বিজ্ঞান এখন পুরো বিশ্বকে আমাদের ড্রয়িং রুমে নিয়ে এসেছে।  চিকিৎসা বিজ্ঞান অনেক জটিল ও মারাত্মক রোগকে জয় করেছে।  কম্পিউটার এবং মোবাইল ফোন যোগাযোগকে অনেক সহজ করে দিয়েছে।  আমরা আমাদের জীবনের প্রতিটি ধাপে বিজ্ঞানের উপহার উপভোগ করি।  এলার্ম ঘড়ি আমাদের পছন্দের যেকোনো সময় আমাদের ঘুম থেকে জাগায়।  সকালের খবরের কাগজ, রান্নার চুলা, বিদ্যুৎ সবই বিজ্ঞানের উপহার।  রেডিও, টেলিভিশন, ভিডিও রেকর্ডার, টেপ-রেকর্ডার ইত্যাদি হল বিনোদন ও বহির্বিশ্বের সাথে পরিচিত হওয়ার মাধ্যম।  বৈদ্যুতিক পাখা, এয়ার-কুলার, এয়ার-কন্ডিশনার গরমের দিনে আমাদের ঠান্ডা রাখে।  কিন্তু আমাদের বিজ্ঞানকে মন্দ উদ্দেশ্যে বা ধ্বংসাত্মক উদ্দেশ্যে ব্যবহার করা উচিত নয়।
