1.  Why did Duke Orsino send Viola to Olivia? What was Olivia's reply?

Ans.

    Duke Orsino trusted Viola for her faithfulness and expertise. He told Viola about his love story for Olivia. He told that Olivia treated Orsino unkindly and refused to meet him. So, the Duke sent Viola to woo Olivia for him.

      Seeing Cesario's earnest appeal Olivia wanted to know if she was a comedian. Shunning a direct reply Cesario talked about Orsino now. Olivia replied that his master knew well her mind. She did not love his master at all, though he was a virtuous, noble, fresh and spotless youth. Cesario  was invited in this house again but was requested not to convey Orsino's pleadings.
