In R. K. Narayan's story 'Leela's Friend", Sidda looked at Leela.
The situation occurred when the police really arrested Sidda and took him to the house of Mr. Sivasanker four days after he had fled away from the house. One evening Leela went to market with Sidda. When she came back her mother noticed that her gold chain was missing. After this Sidda ran away from the house but he was arrested. The police pressed Sidda to confess. But he went on denying and Leela went on supporting Sidda's statement. At last the inspector ordered the constable to take him back to the police station. At that time he looked mutely at Leela.
